Memory, Moon Gallery

Year: 2019-2022
Dimensions: 1 cm cube
Medium: Plastic with acrylic paint

"Moon Gallery is an international collaborative artwork and a gallery of ideas worth sending to the Moon. Moon Gallery aims to set up the first permanent museum on the Moon. It will launch 100 artefacts to the Moon within the compact format of 10 x 10 x 1cm plate on a lunar lander exterior panelling as early as 2025."

The image below is from the Cupola of the International Space Station, when the Moon Gallery met the final frontier of human habitation, during its 10 month long mission on the ISS in 2022. My work, Memory, follows the process of how a mollusk builds its home utilizing just enough of the raw materials available for its needs, and leaving behind traces of its existence. Ideas of sustainability, curiosity and looking beyond personal limitations are ideas central to this work.
